Join Save Our Shores and local expert scientists to discuss responsible aquaculture in California.
On August 25th, Save Our Shores, California Sea Grant, and Moss Landing Marine Laboratories co-hosted the 2023 California Responsible Aquaculture NGO Forum. Scientists and representatives from 14 environmental nonprofits came together to discuss what encompasses responsible aquaculture and the potential for these practices to occur in local California communities.
The goal of this forum was to share and discuss various perspectives and concerns, summarize the varied positions, and coalesce around any shared values on aquaculture. A forum summary paper is being authored and will be shared with aquaculture practitioners, regulators, and research-funding organizations on what the concerns and opportunities are for aquaculture in California from the perspective of conservation non-profits.
We invite the Monterey Bay community to join us and take part in this Speaker Series to learn about responsible aquaculture from a scientist and take part in a community Q&A and discussion around this topic!
